X-rays were discovered in 1895 by Röntgen. One of the first clinical X-rays was performed at the Liverpool Southern Hospital in 1896 – a hand after a shotgun injury and soon became embedded in day-day patient care. Fast forward to the 20th century; which has seen development of CT scanning, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging etc.. Now, we have AI which brings some interesting debates.This lecture will take you through the evolution of clinical imaging and its impact on patient management.

Effective communication is essential in radiology, yet D/deaf and hard-of-hearing patients often face significant barriers when accessing imaging services. This webinar aims to raise awareness of British Sign Language (BSL) within radiology practice and provide radiographers with fundamental knowledge to improve patient interactions.

The BSNR is delighted to announce that from January 2025, an annual programme of NHSE-funded monthly online teaching sessions will begin. Each themed session will run on the morning of the 4th Thursday of each month. The programme is targeted at ST1-3 registrars, and all UK trainees are encouraged to attend. Each session will include four themed lectures with interactive cases, shared via PACSbin.

The purpose of this event is to enhance professional skills in Nuclear Medicine by engaging in interactive learning, practical scenarios, and collaborative discussions. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in essential clinical and technical areas, improve teamwork and problem-solving abilities, and discover new innovations in imaging and treatment methods. By creating a space for shared knowledge and professional development, the event aims to empower practitioners to deliver higher-quality patient care and advance their expertise in the field of Nuclear Medicine.
