BSNR ST1-3 Teaching Programme

Ultrasound Reporting

The NCL Imaging Academy Team would like to invite you to two online sessions around Ultrasound Reporting. They will complement each other, but there is no requirement to attend both sessions. The ultrasound report forms the legal documentation
of the ultrasound examination, and poor quality of reports can affect patient
outcomes due to unclear communication of the examination findings. Session One: Best Practice in Ultrasound Report-Writing. 9th July 12-13.00. Guidance from the SoR, BMUS and RCR will be reviewed and explored, along with tips for structure and terminology to appropriately guide the patient pathway. An element of the session will be an interactive workshop to development your skills in report-writing. It is suggested (but not required) to bring a few examples of your reporting (they must be anonymised- no patient data please).Session Two: Using Generative AI to enhance Ultrasound Report-Writing. 16th July 12-13.00. This interactive workshop will be centred around how you can use Generative AI to enhance your reports. It will focus around the practical application, critical analysis of the outputs, and ethical considerations when using GenAI in reporting. It is suggested that you have some experience with writing reports; please bring a few examples of your reporting (they must be anonymised- no patient data please).The course will be led by Angie White, Ultrasound Practice Educator for North Central London Imaging Academy and a lecturer and module lead with Brunel University of London. She is a internationally trained sonographer with over 20 years experience in ultrasound; the last 10 years she has worked in the UK across multiple imaging types and locations and will share her varied experience and tips for successful report-writing.You will receive the appropriate Teams link on registration, and a CPD certificate for each session upon completion of a feedback form.Audience: Open to all with an interest in developing and refining their ultrasound reports.Accessibility Support: Captions can be turned on in the session, anonymised options for participation, and please let us know if you need further support.
